Plaquemines Parish Education: 253 Asian students were enrolled in schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 253 Asian students enrolled in Plaquemines Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 24.6% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that Plaquemines Parish welcomed 4,524 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 5.6% of the student body to be the fourth least represented ethnicity in the parish.

Among the nine schools within the parish, Belle Chasse High School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2023-24 school year, with a total of 60 students.

Louisiana's educational performance is among the lowest in the nation, according to a WalletHub analysis. The state was ranked 47th overall, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
