Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 12.7% of Plaquemines Parish's student body in 2023-24 school year

There were 575 Hispanic students enrolled in Plaquemines Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 2.9% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that Plaquemines Parish welcomed 4,524 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 12.7% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the parish.

Among the nine schools within the parish, Belle Chasse Academy recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2023-24 school year, with a total of 161 students.

Louisiana's educational performance is among the lowest in the nation, according to a WalletHub analysis. The state was ranked 47th overall, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
