The Jefferson Parish Library is partnering with the Southern Food and Beverage Museum to conduct food demonstrations once a month at both the East Bank Regional and West Bank Regional libraries.
The food demonstration at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. The food demonstration at the West Bank Regional Library, will begin on Wednesday, January 18, at 7 p.m.
Each of the demonstrations will be led by Liz Williams, president and founder of the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. For the inaugural session, she will prepare an Italian-Creole favorite – pasta sauce with squash.
Future food demonstrations will focus on the significant culinary history of South Louisiana, specifically Creole and Cajun traditions, as well as French cuisine, while highlighting healthy ingredients and seasonal produce available in local stores and farmers markets.
Patrons will be allowed to sample the dishes that are prepared during the demonstration. However, these demonstrations are not intended to serve as meals for those in the audience. Food will not be sold.
