WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), the ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, has voiced strong criticism against the Biden administration's new rule regarding Title IX. Dr. Cassidy expressed concerns that the rule is shifting the focus of the law, originally designed to protect women and girls in academic settings, towards advancing progressive policy goals.
In a statement, Dr. Cassidy stated, “The Biden administration has completely lost its way on Title IX." He further added, "We are still reviewing this rule, but it appears to be an attempt by the Biden administration to pursue an ideological agenda on gender identity and inject federal bureaucrats into the parent-child relationship."
Additionally, the Biden administration is working on a separate proposed Title IX rule that specifically targets athletics. This proposed rule, released last year, mandates schools to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports or face the risk of losing federal funds.
Senator Cassidy has initiated an investigation to delve into the impact of permitting biological men to compete against female athletes. A recent preliminary report released by Cassidy included compelling testimony from female athletes who highlighted the mental stress and anguish they experienced when competing against biological male athletes with inherent physical advantages.
