JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Attorney’s Office has launched a new open records management portal to improve the efficiency and transparency in responding to requests for documents and other public materials.
“We are proud to introduce this new software which will enable constituents to submit public records requests through a web-based portal and track progress in real time,” said Jefferson Parish Attorney Peggy Barton. “This will not only make it much easier for the public to request materials, but it will also help our departments streamline the process, saving us time and money.”
The NextRequest public records management portal is an all-in-one platform for managing requests parish-wide, both internally amongst the departments and externally with the public. The new software will allow for the seamless and streamlined management of requests and include features such as automatic tracking and follow-ups, task assignment and document management. This will reduce the volume of email communication, reduce the use of data storage on Parish servers and reduce copy costs to the parish.
To take full advantage of the new features, requestors will need to create an account and begin making requests at https://jeffersonparishla.nextrequest.com/. There are search functions that will allow the constituent to search for previous requests and have access to download any documents already made publicly available. Additionally, there are keyword prompts that will automatically provide referral information to agencies outside of Jefferson Parish Government.
Monthly PRR status reports are required by ordinance, JPCO 2-152, and will still be posted to their current locations on the parish website.
