METAIRIE, La. – Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union, GNO FCU, kicked off youth month by hosting its first annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 9, 2022. Cotton candy was spun on site by Gourmet Fairy Floss. “Sammy the Saver” made an appearance, as GNO FCU promoted National Credit Union Youth Month, with its youth savings account program “Sammy’s Savings Club”. GNO FCU is giving away a bike this month to one lucky new youth account holder. The winner will be selected Saturday, April 30, 2022, so start your children’s new youth account today. Youth savings accounts encourage children to practice good financial habits that will enable them to fulfill their big dreams. Dreaming big does not mean you need to start with big actions. The first small step is usually the hardest, but once it’s taken, you can use momentum to propel you forward. This year’s theme for National Credit Union Youth Month is “Save Small. Dream Big at your GNO Federal Credit Union.” It uses the image of a magical rainbow with a wish-fulfilling gold star at the end. We want to tell young members that their dreams are attainable, no matter how big they are.
If you have been wondering how to empower your kids to save for their future, National Credit Union Youth Month and your GNO FCU are wonderful places to start! The month of April, credit unions across the country encourage youth to start saving regularly. This celebration is an exciting time to engage kids at GNO FCU and within your community to help them learn that saving, no matter how small the amount, can help them achieve their dreams.
