Tulane University’s women’s beach volleyball team will travel out of Louisiana for the first time this season to participate in the Chanticleer Challenge, held at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Complex in Conway, South Carolina. The Green Wave enters the event with a 5-4 record and will compete in four dual matches over the weekend.
The competition features strong teams, including two that are nationally ranked. Cal Poly is currently ranked No. 4, while Florida Atlantic holds the No. 15 spot. Tulane and Georgia State have both received votes in national polls, with Georgia State previously ranked No. 19 before dropping out recently.
The schedule begins Friday morning as Tulane faces No. 15 Florida Atlantic at 7:00 a.m. CT, followed by a match against Georgia State at 1:00 p.m. CT. On Saturday, Tulane will play its first top-five opponent of the season when it meets No. 4 Cal Poly at 7:00 a.m. CT, then immediately plays host team Coastal Carolina at 11:00 a.m. CT.
Molly Trodd and Skylar Ensign have led Tulane from the second flight with a current record of seven wins and two losses, entering the tournament on a five-match winning streak. Avery Burks and Gigi Gallegos also come into the weekend after winning their last four matches during an undefeated run at last week’s Tiger Beach Challenge.
After this event, Tulane is scheduled to return home to host the Bayou Beach Duals at White Sands Volleyball Courts on March 13 and March 14.
