U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, will host a roundtable on Tuesday, September 10 to discuss innovation in K-12 education aimed at enhancing student achievement. The event will feature panelists from across the nation who will share their strategies for fostering success in classrooms and beyond.
The roundtable is scheduled amidst ongoing concerns about declining student performance in K-12 schools nationwide. Data from the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress indicates that two-thirds of fourth and eighth graders are unable to read proficiently. Furthermore, nearly two-thirds of fourth graders and three-quarters of eighth graders fall below proficiency levels in math.
Panelists for the event include Amar Kumar, Founder & CEO of KaiPod Learning; Heidi Vasiloff, Academic Executive Director at Great Hearts Nova; Kelby Woodard, President & CEO of Cristo Rey Network; Ruben Morris, Founder of Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School; and Steve Grubbs, CEO & Co-Founder of VictoryXR.
The roundtable will take place at 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM CT in Room 562 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Interested parties can watch live or attend in person by RSVP'ing to Stephen Lewerenz at Stephen_Lewerenz@help.senate.gov.
