The City of Kenner in Louisiana has announced the closure of its administrative offices on Tuesday, January 16th, due to possible hazardous road conditions caused by precipitation. This closure extends to recreation activities, food bank distributions, and Mayor’s Court/Clerk of Court.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing rain is expected to arrive in the area around 10pm tonight and continue overnight. As a result, a Freeze Warning and Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect on Tuesday, making for bitterly cold temperatures throughout the day.

In response to the weather conditions, the City of Kenner's Emergency Management Center is closely monitoring the situation. They are advising residents to take precautions by securing pets, plants, and pipes.

To ensure that residents stay informed in real-time, the city encourages them to sign up for Jefferson Parish Community Alerts (JP ALERTS). This alert notification system allows officials to immediately contact residents and business owners during major crises or emergencies. To sign up, individuals can text JPALERT to 888777, while Spanish-speaking residents can text JPNOTICIAS to the same number.

The closure of the City of Kenner's administrative offices and other facilities aims to prioritize the safety of employees and residents during potentially dangerous road conditions.
