From January 4 - 10, Kenner residents may place their trees curbside for collection where the trees will be diverted from landfills and placed in the Barataria Basin by volunteers.

All trees collected must be bare. Trees with any lights, garland, tinsel, ornaments, tree stands or plastic bags of any sort will not be collected. Flocked, artificial or painted trees will not be accepted.

The Jefferson Parish Coastal Treecycling Program serves as a way to prevent coastal erosion and preserve wildlife, as the recycled trees collected are used to build wave dampening fences, located directly off the shore, which aids in reducing coastal erosion and providing wildlife habitation.
