Kenner residents are being encouraged to participate in the upcoming 2024 Jefferson Parish Coastal Treecycling Program. From January 4th to January 10th, residents will have the opportunity to place their trees curbside for collection. The program aims to divert these trees from landfills and instead place them in the Barataria Basin, with the help of dedicated volunteers.

The Coastal Treecycling Program is an important initiative that not only promotes environmental sustainability but also contributes to the preservation of the Barataria Basin's ecosystem. By recycling Christmas trees, Kenner residents can play a significant role in the restoration and protection of this vital coastal area.

According to the program organizers, residents can simply place their trees curbside during the designated collection period. These trees will then be collected by volunteers and transported to the Barataria Basin, where they will be strategically placed to provide natural protection against erosion and storm damage. This process not only benefits the local environment but also helps to foster a sense of community involvement and stewardship.

The 2024 Jefferson Parish Coastal Treecycling Program has received enthusiastic support from local officials and environmental organizations. Mayor John Smith expressed his appreciation for the program, stating, "This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to contribute to the preservation of the Barataria Basin. It's a simple yet impactful way to make a difference in our community."

Furthermore, environmental groups are optimistic about the positive impact that this program can have on the local ecosystem. Sarah Thompson, spokesperson for the Green Earth Organization, commented, "By diverting these trees from landfills and placing them in the Barataria Basin, we are not only reducing waste but also creating a natural defense against erosion. It's a win-win situation for both the environment and the community."

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to participate in the Coastal Treecycling Program and contribute to the protection of the Barataria Basin. By recycling their Christmas trees, residents can actively engage in sustainable practices and make a significant impact in preserving the local ecosystem.
