Join the Jefferson Chamber Young Professionals for an incredible evening of eating, education, & networking at Eats & Edu! Meet us at Austin's Seafood & Steakhouse for food, fun, and an educational experience. Our topic is "Business Etiquette" and we will discuss things like how to conduct yourself, public speaking, appearance, email etiquette, amongst other important points in the workplace.This event is for young professionals in their 20s and 30s only.In this Eats & Edu session, we will hear from Brooke Laizer, meteorologist at WGNO TV.
Hailing from Metairie, Hurricane Katrina inspired Brooke Laizer’s Atmospheric Science career by 5th grade! A Mount Carmel Academy, Mississippi State University alumna, Brooke earned her Bachelor of Geoscience Degree and received the Louisiana, Mississippi Associated Press’ Best College Weathercast Award during Spring 2017. During undergrad, Brooke interned in New Orleans, LA before interning in Washington, DC. Nationally, Brooke has studied under ABC News’ Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, too, shadowing forecasting for Good Morning America. Off of campus, Brooke thoroughly enjoyed her Great Plains Storm Chasing Elective, where she tracked storms across Midwestern states. Brooke also thoroughly enjoyed her San Salvador Island, Bahamas Disaster Survey Course, where she assessed damage totals to rebuild this Hurricane Joaquin affected community.
Brooke immediately began her profession on air serving Augusta, Georgia; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; as well as Jackson, Mississippi. Now, Brooke is touched to be living out a lifelong dream of forecasting for her own beloved city during Good Morning New Orleans, which inspired this career 16 years ago. There’s (WG)NO place like home, and serving the community that her heart’s always been within has proved exceptionally fulfilling, especially while covering Hurricane Ida.
When not at work, Brooke loves traveling and rooting on both New Orleans Saints Football and New Orleans Pelicans Basketball as well as Mississippi State University Athletics. Who Dat, Won’t Bow Down, and Hail State!

1st Course: Evangeline Salad
Mixed greens with toasted almonds, tomatoes, and dried cranberries tossed with balsamic vinaigrette.
2nd Course: Choice of one of the following entrees
• Pecan Crusted Trout - Topped with meuniere sauce and served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables
• Chicken Parmesan - Served with angel hair and topped with marinara sauce
• Veal & Fettuccini - Panéed Baby White Veal served with Fettuccini Alfredo
