New Genealogy Series To Begin June 15 Will Honor The Memory Of Sal Serio

METAIRIE, LA – A new series of nine  genealogy classes will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning June  15, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

These presentation is free of charge and open to the public. Registration is not required.

The new series of classes replace the one originally scheduled  by Sal Serio, curator of the American Italian Research Center, who died  on Monday, May 23.

The volunteer speakers listed below are all friends of Serio’s  and they felt that the continuation of his courses was a good way to  honor the many years of service he devoted to genealogical issues.

1 p.m., Wednesday, June 15 – Bringing Your Ancestors to Life with Rhonda Roederer.

1 p.m., Wednesday, June 22 – Obstacle or Opportunity: Pathway to Genealogy Gems with Rhonda Roederer.

1 p.m., Wednesday, June 29 – Orleans Archdiocese Records with Jack Belsom.

1 p.m., Wednesday, July 6 – Census Records with Rhonda Roederer.

1 p.m., Wednesday, July 13 – Become a Tombstone Tourist with Rhonda Roederer.

1 p.m., Wednesday, July 20 – DNA Research with Phyllis Cosentino.

1 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 – Family Secrets Uncovered with Rhonda Roederer.

1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 – South Louisiana Repositories of Family History Records with Marguerite Scully.

1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10 – African American History with Gaynell Brady

1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17 - TBD.

The Jefferson Parish Library system consists of 16 locations that  stretch from the Lakeshore Branch on the edge of Lake Pontchartrain to  the Grand Isle Branch just steps away from the Gulf of Mexico. The  library system consists of two large regional libraries and seven  branches on each side of the Mississippi River. The East Bank Regional  Library (4747 W.
