Jefferson Parish issued the following announcement on April 15.
Jefferson Parish is a proud partner in the CDBG program available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. As its name implies, CDBG is a grant provided by the federal government to the Parish to complete various community building and development projects. Jefferson Parish receives about $2 million annually and has utilized these funds successfully for decades to leverage private dollars and complete significant improvements.
These funds touch nearly every community effort in our community, from delivering meals to the elderly, to infrastructure projects, to renovating neighborhoods, etc. CDBG is a versatile funding source that helps us revitalize our neighborhoods and improve our citizens’ lives.
The block grants have helped expand our affordable housing efforts, helping those most at risk from homelessness. Countless local projects would not have been possible with these federal investments.
Please join us in celebrating the successes of the CDBG program and its impact on our community during National Community Development Week.
