An updated draft of the 2025 Jefferson Parish Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is now open for public comment until February 13, 2025. The document can be accessed through the Jefferson Parish Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update website. Comments and feedback can be submitted via email to the Department of Floodplain Management & Hazard Mitigation at JPFloodPlain@jeffparish.gov.

The plan aims to develop and implement strategies that mitigate community risks from natural hazards. Having an approved plan enables the parish and its municipalities to apply for federal funding for prioritized projects.

Jefferson Parish has completed the first draft with contributions from officials in Gretna, Harahan, Kenner, Westwego, Grand Isle, and Jean Lafitte. This update occurs every five years.

For further details or inquiries about the plan, contact the Department of Floodplain Management & Hazard Mitigation at (504) 736-6540 or JPFloodPlain@jeffparish.gov.
