Kenner issues emergency declaration amid severe winter weather forecast

Kenner Mayor Mike Glaser has issued an Emergency Declaration in anticipation of severe winter weather. The Kenner Emergency Management team is closely monitoring a cold front that is expected to affect the area. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are predicted to fall throughout Sunday and remain at or below freezing from Monday through Wednesday. There is also a possibility of frozen precipitation.

As a precaution, all government facilities in Kenner will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This closure includes Mayor’s Court, Resource Centers, and Recreation activities. Garbage collection services will also be suspended during this period for public safety reasons.

The Kenner Emergency Operations Center is currently active. Residents and business owners are advised to stay informed about available resources and water alerts by visiting the Jefferson Parish Winter Weather page.
