U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, the ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, has expressed approval following a federal court’s decision to overturn the Biden-Harris overtime rule. The regulation aimed to increase the overtime pay threshold by 65 percent, which Cassidy argued would have negative economic impacts.

Cassidy stated that “with inflation at 40-year highs and millions dropping out of the workforce,” the rule was detrimental. He added that “businesses shouldn’t be forced to choose between laying off their workers and raising prices on families.” According to Cassidy, this court ruling is beneficial for American families facing economic challenges under current conditions.

Earlier in June, Cassidy alongside 30 Republican senators introduced a Congressional Review Act resolution to disapprove and repeal the Department of Labor’s final overtime rule.
