There were 48,391 students enrolled in Jefferson Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.2% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.6% of them were boys, and 48.4% were girls.

Data also showed that Hispanic students made up 38.3% of the student body, the largest percentage in the parish, followed by 33.8% Black students, 20.6% white students and 4.6% Asian students.

Bonnabel Magnet Academy High School had the highest enrolment among Jefferson Parish’s schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 2,272 students.

According to a 2023 Scholaroo study, Louisiana’s education system ranked 49th in the U.S., only ahead of Arizona. The state ranked poorly in key metrics such as school quality, student achievement, and student safety.
